A message from the President…

Hi Everyone

As this year comes to an end we reflect on what happened this year and ask ourselves "where did the year go??" seems like it always goes so fast. Our Spring Symposium in Perrysburg was well received back in April and we are already working on our next meeting for 2019! This meeting will also be in April outside Dayton in Beavercreek, Ohio please mark your calendars for April 12-13. We will have a guest speaker sponsored by Sakura, Konnie Zeitner , she will give a lecture on Safety and we will have our 3 hour Saturday afternoon series given by Konnie on CJD! This will be a very interesting lecture and I urge you all to attend.

We are in the process of updating our bylaws, if you are a member you will receive information on that so we could vote on them.

We are putting off elections for a year to get things in order before handing off the "reins" to another group of officers.

The National Society for Histotechnology was held in September this year in St Louis and I saw some new people who attended which was good to see. Next year the National Convention will be held in New Orleans again in September. Registration will begin in April and I'd like see more new people come to National and please join NSH as the more people who belong to the societies the more representation we will have to voice our opinion on what goes on at the National level. You must belong to NSH for the previous year and current year to be a delegate and the more people that belong the more delegates we could send to the convention, of course you must belong to HSO also but when you register for the Spring Symposium you are an automatic member (it's included in registration!!). Please consider joining NSH.

So as this year closes and the Holidays approach let us all be thankful for the people in our lives. I am thankful for all of you and the jobs you do!

Happy Holidays!

Audrey Toothman H.T.(ASCP)

President, HSO
